Lip Gloss and a white couch...

Okay, I'm sorry it's been so long since I last blogged! My friend, Sarah, told me she's quit checking it because she knows I haven't written anything in a while so I figured that was probably true for others as well. Sorry!!!!!

Since we've been living at my mom's house, Lucy has continued her reign of destruction. She's colored on the (real) wood floors, poured lotion on the carpet, twice, but the most destructive thing she's done is get ahold of my long lasting mauve colored lip gloss. She thought it would be fun to paint with the lip gloss wand. She painted my suitcase, the coffee table, a mirror and my mom's white couch. We had to call a cleaning company to come try and get it out. And surprisingly, it did. Most of it anyway. It just has a pinkish hue to it now and is barely noticeable.

They should be able to start on our house next week and we will hopefully be back in our house by Christmas.

Hurricane Ike and other things...

I can't believe it's been so long since I posted anything, but I'm not surprised either. Ike trashed my house. We are now living with my mom in Katy, TX. I'll post a few pictures later.

Lucy has done a number on my mom's house. She's colored on the wood floors, glass table and rubbed toothpaste on my step-dad's leather recliner and all over the lid to the toilet. Nothing slows her down. When we first got to mom's, Lucy got a stomach virus and threw up in mom's closet and then she got diarhea (sp?). So, it's been eventful.

We'll be at mom's until Danny and I go to the Cayman Islands on October 11. When we get back, we'll probably move into a 2 bedroom hotel.

I'll try and post pictures later when I have more time. Driving back and forth from Cypress to Katy is taking up a lot of my time.

Q-Tips...

Long ago Lucy discovered the drawer in my bathroom that has the Q-Tips in it. Every once in a while she rediscovers it and grabs handfuls of them. I've finally convinced her to just take 2 (one for each hand). She wanted to put them in her ears, but I wouldn't let her and she finally quit trying.

The other day was a rediscovery day and she got them and once again tried to put them in her ears. Today.... she did this:

It was too funny not to laugh at or take a picture of, and Danny got mad at me. He thought I was encouraging her, but I don't care. It was too cute!

Oh, and Happy 15th Anniversary to us!

Watch Mommy!

Lucy says that all the time. "Watch Mommy", and then she does something that she thinks is great fun! Like jumping off the back of the couch onto the cushions. Or jumping into the pool all by herself with her inner tube floatie around her. But TODAY, she didn't use her floatie.

We were at a Not Back to School Party for homeschooling families. As we were packing up to leave, she wandered over to the edge of the pool and stood there waiting for me to see her. When I did see her, she was teetering on the edge of the pool. Daniel was closest to her and my friend, Valerie, was standing in front of me so she was closer too. I called out to Daniel and Valerie started walking over to her, so I went back to packing. I had put one more thing in the bag and looked up and she was underwater. Apparently because they were rushing towards her, she decided to 'go for it' and jumped in. Two moms that were already in the water came to her rescue. When they pulled her out, she coughed a couple of times and was fine. The moms were surprised I wasn't more upset. I thought to myself, 'they haven't read my blog, so they have no idea!'.

Bad things are happening when the house is quiet...

Just yesterday I was thinking that I didn't have anything new for the blog. I should know better than to think things like that. Something always happens then.

I knew she had been quiet for a few minutes this morning, and I knew I should have stopped what I was doing, but I didn't. I waited. Daniel noticed it too and went looking for her about the same time I did. He found her sitting on my bathroom floor with a bottle of lotion. She had rubbed it all over the floor and all over her legs and feet. She was calling it 'soap'. I wish y'all could hear her talk. She has a cute little accent to her words.

Enjoy the 'soap' pictures. I've also attached a few more from the last couple of weeks. One is of EmmaLee with a comb stuck in her hair. I have never seen a comb stuck like this before. It was a doozy. I thought I was going to have to cut it out. If you look carefully, you can see what I mean.

wearing danny's socks!

this picture is an older one (she's about 15 months or so)... she went into the pantry and shut the door. i grabbed my camera and caught her with her hand in the dortios bag! the first picture is the one where she got caught, the second is a minute later when she kept eating them!

this one about the same time as the one above, as you can see, she climbed into the cabinet! i took this one with my cell phone.

this one was even longer too. she's probably about 13 months old. she went into the hall bath and grabbed the toilet paper. she even has it in her mouth! we should have known then, that we were in trouble. Hindsight is always 20/20!

and finally, the comb stuck in EmmaLee's hair! it must have taken me 20 minutes to get it untangled. i think she learned her lesson, we'll see.

Poop

As you know, our daughter is quite proficient at taking her diaper off and we've resorted to duct taping it on her. Well.... Sunday morning Danny went upstairs to get her and I had forgotten the duct tape. She had taken her diaper off and had stepped in the poop and it was all over her and the bed. Nice huh? Needless to say, we had to bathe her before church.

Later that same day, she took her diaper off and said "potty"! So I took her and she peed! Yea!!! About 30 minutes later, she did it again! We are so proud.

Today, Monday, we went swimming at Mimi's house and before I put her swim diaper on, I took her to the potty! I had to go in the other room to get the phone and Daniel was with her. He called to me saying she was crying. So, I went in there and she was POOPING! Yes! I know this is just the beginning, but we're excited and proud. Daniel and EmmaLee took forever to potty train.

Vaseline

Not much has really happened this week. Just a couple of things.

Earlier this week, she flooded Daniels bathroom sink. The water ran under the sink instead of all over the floor. Weird, I know. It was still a mess to clean up.

Then today, while I was getting my hair cut (Danny was home with the kids), she came downstairs with Vaseline all over her arms like lotion. Danny said that when he went upstairs to see where she got it, he found that she had rubbed it all over the toilet seat in his bathroom. Nice huh? Danny didn't take pictures, sorry.

New events in the life of Lucy...

Well, it's been awhile since I last posted anything. My friend, Sarah, keeps bugging me to post something, but I didn't really have anything and now I know why. Lucy was saving it all up for one day. Yes, in one day she gave me a weeks worth of blogging. Ready? Here we go...

I'll start with the other day when we were at Walmart. She kept trying to climb out of the basket and so I let her play in my purse. She found my mascara and tried to put it on. I don't think she's really ever seen me put it on, but she got it in the right place....

So yesterday (July 29, 2008) was make up day for Lucy.
1. She started by rubbing the yogurt she was eating for lunch all over her body like lotion. No, I forgot to take pictures. I was all over her arms and face.
2. Later, when it was time for her nap, she was ticked that she had to go to bed and I forgot to put duct tape on her diaper. Guess what happened? Yup. She took it off. But I don't think she took it off after she woke up, I think she took if off before she fell asleep and slept naked and then pee'd in her sleep.
3. We were watching TV after dinner and she came up to me trying to take her diaper off. She's not potty trained by any stretch of the imagination, but she likes to sit on the potty (she's never pee'd in the potty), wipe herself and then wash her hands. So we let her and I figured that's what she was wanting to do. So I took off her diaper, but I didn't follow her straight into the bathroom. I was engrossed in the TV. BIG MISTAKE. I should have taken her straight to the bathroom because she proceeded to pee all over the tile and the carpet in my bedroom. IF I HAD TAKEN HER TO THE BATHROOM, SHE WOULD HAVE PEE'D IN THE TOILET!!!!!! Never again will I make that mistake. Oh well.
4. She was not happy that I wouldn't let her 'play' in the water in the sink, so she decided to play in the toilet water and clogged it up with toilet paper. Water was everywhere.
5. She realized that the lock was not on on the ice/water dispenser on the fridge. She proceeded to fill a cup of water up and dump it all over the floor.
6. Somewhere in the house was a loose Sharpie. I really thought that I had gotten them all and up them up VERY high in the kitchen above my desk. I must have missed one because she found it and drew pretty pictures for Mommy all over the kitchen cabinets (and herself). See pictures below. I got most of it off with a Magic Eraser.

Now you know how to pray for me each day! :)

Happy Birthday Lucy!

July 12th was Lucy's 2nd Birthday. She didn't have much of a birthday since we were driving back from our vacation. But we tried to make is special anyway. It was a long trip and she did pretty good considering we were in the 'bus' (that's what we call Danny's Excursion) 7 out of the 10 days we were gone. Needless to say, by the end of the trip, putting her in her carseat was a struggle, literally.

The trip was fun, we got to my dad's just in time for the fireworks on the 4th and then Monday we went to the beach in Ocean City, MD. It's the beach I grew up going too. We walked on the boardwalk and and ate and shopped! On Tuesday we went down to the beach. The kids had a blast playing in the sand and made some friends from Texas whose dad is in Iraq for the 3rd time. The water was ice cold! Kids were getting out of the water after playing in it for awhile and they looked sunburned! I then realized they were red because the water was so cold. It really was freezing. The sand on the East Coast is very sticky. At one point EmmaLee came running up to me and her head was covered with sand. I asked her if she had been rolling around in the sand, but she said no, she'd just been in the water! It was caked in her hair. It took 5-6 washings to get it out and the next day she said she still thought she had sand in her hair.

Then we went to Gatlinburg, TN (Seiverville and Pigeon Forge are all right in a row). We save this part of the trip for the drive home so we have something to look forward too. This is such a beautiful part of the country. We had a lot fun and the kids loved it. We went to the Nascar Speedpark at the end of the day and Danny and the kids raced go carts while Lucy and I watched. Well, I watched, she screamed because she couldn't ride and because Danny wasn't holding her. She bonded with her daddy on this trip.

The last 10-15 minutes of the trip (seriously, we were almost home) Lucy lost her mind. She wanted out of her seat so badly. She was being a total goof ball and started sticking both of her fingers up her nose! Then she plugged her ears and started yelling. Then she just got really ticked off and started crying. We were all laughing at her which just made her even more upset.

Here are the pictures from the last few minutes of the trip. If you want to see some of the vacation photos, please click on the link:

Nightgown = Duct Tape

I haven't written anything for a few days because we've been on vacation for a few days. We drove to my dad's house in Virginia and got here on the 4th just in time to eat dinner and leave for DC to see the fireworks. It was fun, the kids loved it.

We woke up Monday morning to pack for the beach. Lucy was waiting for us with a surprise! I heard her call me from her room. She was calling "mommy, poopy!".

I, of course, went running. She was holding her diaper in her hand and when I lifted her up, I saw it. Lots of it. Poop. In the bed. Yes, my daughter took off her diaper and pooped in her bed. I'll spare you the pictures that I didn't take. Danny wanted me to take some, but I refused.

No more nightgowns.... if she wears a nightgown, she'll have to have duct tape on her diaper.

I guess we'll start trying to potty train her when we get home. Seems kinda earlier though.

Off with the diaper!!!!!

This morning when I went to get Lucy out of her crib, I noticed her diaper laying in the bed. I thought, 'surely she didn't take it off', I wonder how it got in there. But no, she took it off and peed in her bed! Unbelievable! We have some friends that had to duck tape their daughter's diaper on. I think that might be our next step....

Oh, and my friend Tracy called last night to tell me what her son, Jacob, did yesterday. I thought it was worth sharing with y'all. You know that old saying... if it's quiet, then there's trouble?

Well, it was quiet in her house and so she asked her older son if he new where Jacob was. He said no, and they went searching for him. They looked everywhere, and he was not in the house. When she went to check the front door, she realized it was unlocked. Could Jacob have unlocked the door and gone outside? The lock on the door has a key in it, but no, he didn't unlock the door. They went outside and she had DJ, her older son, go check the backyard. She went into the street to get a better look at the neighborhood. And of course, there he was, toddling down the street!

I'm thankful that Lucy has never done this!

The Bag Lady...

Okay, so yes, I let my daughter play with a plastic bag. I was watching her very carefully, so please, no comments about how irresponsible it was to let her play with a plastic bag.

With that said, she was hysterical with the bag. At first she was putting things in it and carrying it around, then she put her hand in it and picked things up with it. But the best thing she did with it, was put it on her head like a hat. I was in the dining room and she caught my eye going up the stairs. So I glanced up and there she was, wearing it like a shower cap! Classic Lucy. My camera was in its bag, and by the time I got it out, she had taken it off. She came back a few minutes later with it on her head again and this time I caught it.

Laundry...

Let me just start by saying that Lucy has been sick for a few days with fever, and she was great! But she's feeling better, and the old Lucy is back.

So, I did Lucy's laundry, folded it and placed it on the stairs to take up later when she woke up from her nap. Danny ended up getting her out of bed, so the clothes stayed on the stairs. Betcha can't guess what happened? Okay, I'm sure you can.

Lucy decided she would help me by taking her clothes upstairs for me! Isn't that great? NOT! What was I thinking leaving her clothes on the stairs? All I can say in my defense is that I've had a headache all day and OH, I forgot they were on the stairs.... and yes, that is a loaf of bread at the bottom of the picture. She must have grabbed it off the counter in the kitchen.

When I wasn't looking...

Okay, she does most of her destroying when I'm not looking. This time it was our leather couch. The marks look like pen, but I don't see the weapon of choice anywhere. I don't even know when it was done! I just noticed it this morning so I don't know if she did it last night or this morning. Sorry Danny. I'm getting an ink remover made for leather from your mom to try and get it out.
By the time this child leaves our house, we'll have to buy all new furniture! or a new house!

Hide your checkbook!

So the other day (Friday, I think), I bought a new purse and was putting stuff from my old purse into the new one in my bedroom on my bed. I left my new purse on my bed. A few minutes later, I noticed Lucy walking around with the pen that I keep in my wallet, minus the cap. She took off running of course when I called out her name (she knows when she has something she's not supposed too) and ended upstairs with it. The kids got it away from her and brought it back to me. When I went to put it back in my wallet, I realized what she had done. She loves to color. She colored on my sheets and on the checks in my wallet. She even colored on the plastic divider for my duplicate checks! Here are a few pictures....

Wallet, Check - now voided! & plastic divider

sheets!

My grandfather is certain she'll end up in reform school. Do they have reform school anymore? I keep hoping she'll 'grow out of it', but somehow, I don't see that happening. It's amazing what she can reach. If she stretches herself high enough, she can throw stuff into the kitchen sink! Oh, she she'd discovered that she can now reach the ice/water dispenser on our fridge. She loves to push the water and let it run down her arm onto the floor. We have to keep it locked now. She still trys to make it work! Crazy girl!

I live for Monday's and Wednesday's. She goes to Mother's Day Out. The only problem is that it doesn't last long enough. After the first day, the teacher's told me what an angel she was! Ha! I said. You don't know the real Lucy. I had to bring the nail polish pictures to show them because they didn't believe me. Why is it that your kids are better for other people? I've never understood that.

Syrup...

These pictures were taken on June 4th after Danny left for a Men's Night. We had breakfast for dinner and he fixed EmmaLee and her friend Abby some pancakes. He accidentally left the syrup on the counter where Lucy could reach it and while I was washing dishes, she poured the syrup all over the floor and then rolled around in it! Nice huh? The sad thing is that she's so quiet about it, that I didn't even hear her and she was right next to me!

Marker.... and polish

This is my first posting of The Life and Times of Lucy Nicole Schochler, a.k.a. Hurricane Lucy.

Okay, so just to catch you up on what is happening each day, here is what happened in the month of May.

5/5/08: After going to the gym, we rushed home so I could shower and leave again for a birthday party at Chuck E. Cheese.
I asked Daniel to watch her while I was in the shower, and I put on Sesame Street for her to watch. She doesn't really watch it, but sometimes, she'll pause and watch it for a few minutes. I was hoping that this would help Daniel keep her busy. I rushed thru my shower, got dressed and put my makeup on, only to be greeted at my bedroom door by Lucy covered in green Crayola marker! Her arms, legs, shirt, feet and hands were colored on. Instead of watching Lucy, Daniel watched Sesame Street! I didn't take pictures. Sorry. Daniel got a stern talking too about it and we went on after a quick bath and a change of clothes. We were late to the party.

5/6/08: After EmmaLee got home from school, I realized I hadn't showered all day and we were leaving to go to my friend Sarah's house for dinner. So I again, asked Daniel (and EmmaLee this time) to watch Lucy for me while I was taking a shower. Again, I came out of my room only to find Lucy covered in brown dry erase marker. Only it was worse this time. She colored all over her arms, legs, toenails, bottoms of her feet, face, tummy, shirt, shorts and her diaper too! Oh, and the wall in the office. As I came around the corner I was met by EmmaLee who was trying to explain what happened and she was stumbling over her words. Daniel was kneeling on the floor in front of Lucy frantically scrubbing her arm with a wipe. This time, I didn't get mad, Daniel already knew I was mad.

5/25/08: Today is my birthday. We overslept a bit so we decided to skip Sunday School so we weren't frantically rushing around. We ate breakfast and got dressed and had about 30 minutes left over. So I decided to paint the girls toenails (in my bathroom). I started with Lucy. She loves getting her toes polished. When I finished I took her into the hall bath to fix her hair. I realized then, that she had a dirty diaper and called to Danny to come change it before I fixed her hair. I took EmmaLee into my bath to start on her toenails. Apparently I took the polish into the hall bath with me, big mistake. And apparently, Danny didn't hear me ask him to change her diaper. EmmaLee's toes needed more work. I had to take her old polish off and trim her toenails. And just as I started to paint her first toe, she gasped. I turned around and there was precious Lucy, covered in bright pink polish! I threw her into the bathtub only to realize the extent of the damage. I told EmmaLee to run get Danny and when she got to the door of our room she gasped again, only louder. Our bedroom is across the hall from the hall bathroom. I went running to where she was and there it was. Polish... all over the floor, with little foot prints accenting the huge puddle. I don't think I ever realized how much polish is actually in a bottle. Danny met me in the hall and I told him to grab the camera.

Here are the pictures of 'the polish incident'.
